The proceeds are used for three PCUSA programs: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self-Development of People. We have generously supported these causes in past years; let’s not allow our changed worship procedure change that. Mail checks to the church marked OGHS

The Art of Worship! Sundays at 2pm
Hi! It’s Caran-marie Weston Dunbar. I’ve been having a great time doing the bulletin covers and sharing my art with all of you. Exploring the biblical text and praising God through art is a tradition that goes all the way back to the early church. Last Sunday we started a new opportunity for the members of the Vashon Presbyterian Church to share in this tradition in their own homes and in their own way. The Art of Worship goes from 2-3 on Sundays on Zoom. It’s a discussion group discussing the bulletin art, art in the church (I’ll be doing some art history research on each Sunday’s topic), and a chance to share your own art. Most of the Psalms of the Old Testament were written by King David (some were written by Moses, Solomon and others). The Psalms are the hymnbook of the Old Testament and as such have wonderful imagery and interesting ideas. Our challenge each week is to take a Psalm, either the whole thing or a few verses that jump out at you and depict part of the imagery or simply how it makes you feel in whatever medium you like. We’ll share our efforts in the Art of Worship. This week we are starting with Psalm One. Come for the discussion or come for the art and join us in the Art of Worship.
