The Companionship Workshop at VPC will run from 9am to noon on Saturday, January 11th. Kae Eaton, who lives on Vashon and works with the Mental Health Chaplaincy will be conducting the workshop. The Mental Health Chaplaincy supports companionship throughout Seattle by providing trainings to churches, nonprofits and other organizations. The goal of the training is to provide the tools to listen consciously, with openness and awareness to the stories and struggles of others, to enable at least a momentary reprieve, and to encourage a strengthening for the journey ahead. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone wanting to work with the homeless or others in need.
Dear Ones of VPC,
Thank you so much for your generous gift to me at Christmas. Your thoughtfulness and grace really touched me. I so appreciate the way God has woven our stories together and we continue on this journey of being the church. I’m excited to see where God will take us in this coming year.
Grace and Peace,
Food Bank This month we collected 50.6 lbs for the Food Bank!
Imigration Information Adriana Ortiz-Serrano, staff attorney, and Sensitive Locations Project Coordinator of El Centro de la Raza will be on Vashon Monday January 13th. This seminar will help us understand ICE policies regarding Sensitive Locations and how we can have a safer community for all our residents. Monday, January 13th from 10:30 – noon at the Vashon Library We have an opportunity to identify Sensitive Locations across Vashon – Maury to support our community. Many immigrant community members are afraid to go to medical appointments, pick up their children from school, or attend church as ICE can, at any time, arrest and detain people whom ICE considers to be without proper documentation.
